We Are No Longer Homo Sapiens, We Are Homo-Techno
Junko Shimada’s Aggressive Pumps, the Alice Auaa Spring 2014 Collection and Some Bat for Lashes Merch
It's been a busy yet exciting week. A thought-provoking discussion with Dana Thomas on the absurdly rising prices of luxury fashion marked Tuesday's highlights. Following closely was an emotional conversation with writer and journalist Ellen Atlanta for a commission that promises to provoke questions. And of course, the start of our rebranding journey, courtesy of master wizard James Killough. What more could we ask for?
In between all these events, I couldn’t shake off Grimes's quote: 'We are no longer Homo sapiens, we are Homo-techno.' Technology has allowed us to bridge distances and have impactful conversations with people living in different time zones or discover new fashion gems, as this newsletter is all about.
However, when it comes to fashion, it seems that the industry is plagued by the same issues as before. The gap between poor-quality fast fashion and super-expensive luxury items is now greater than ever. What needs to be fixed? One thing is certain, the antitheses are deeper than we thought.
Now, onto the fashion gems of the week:
The black leather integrated crochet elastic upper stilettos by Gui Rosa.
The first looks by the Massachusetts College of Art and Design senior thesis collection “Tempus Edax Rerum” by @lecoeurdepearl.
The Junko Shimada Spring Summer 2009 ballet pumps.
All of Alice Auaa’s Spring 2014 collection titled: Sleep in Water.
The ‘Juliet’ earrings by Justine Clenquet in light pink.
Stills from Intellettuale [Intellectual], a performance by Fabio Mauri realised for the opening of the new Galleria Comunale d’Arte Moderna in Bologna in 1975 with the participation of Pier Paolo Pasolini, one of Fabio Mauri’s closest friends.
This top from Bat For Lashes’s ‘The Dream of Delphi’ clothing capsule.
Stay tuned for what’s to come, we promise it will be exciting.
