I have been recently delving into father Slavoj Žižek ’s latest Substack article FIGURES OF THE END OF THE WORLD, mostly part of my much-needed fashion week break. This is where I came across this quote by Alessandro Sbordoni:
“As the end gets nearer, more is yet to come”
Combined with the fashion world’s seasonal visual overdrive, it made me wonder how Couture today justifies a full Couture Week of its own. Is it the dreamlike approach to fashion that still sets it apart that makes it relevant or the uber-rich clientele who are willing to pay for clothing most people can’t afford?
I don’t have an answer to that yet.
