I Let ChatGPT Predict The Fashion Trends of 2024
And They Sound Surprisingly Similar with Everybody's Else's List
With New Year’s Eve fast approaching, I was tempted to write a non-consistent yet catchy list of all the fashion cores we will be seeing next year. Only that I don’t care and I don’t honestly believe true fashion people ever followed trends unless they were the ones creating them. If there is one thing I feel that will characterize 2024 is the need for quality curating.
Allow me to explain: as we are being constantly bombarded by images and news, it lays on people with what our parents used to call taste, to filter what we should be caring about. In that sense, this series of newsletters is doing exactly that albeit in a very very very personal manner. But isn’t this all that’s fun about showcasing what mainstream fashion media overlook?
Then I had an even better idea. Let ChatGPT predict the trends and see how different they will be from other predictions widely offered by major fashion outlets. Evil isn't it?

While I cannot provide real-time predictions, as my training only includes data up until January 2022, I can suggest some speculative fashion trends for 2024 based on the general direction of the industry. Keep in mind that fashion is highly dynamic, influenced by various factors, and subject to change. Here are some potential trends to watch for in 2024:
Digital Couture and Virtual Fashion Shows: As technology continues to play a significant role in our lives, the fashion industry might explore digital couture and virtual fashion shows. Virtual garments and digital experiences could become a part of the fashion landscape.
Sustainable Fashion Evolution: The focus on sustainability is likely to intensify, with a growing emphasis on circular fashion, innovative eco-friendly materials, and transparent supply chains. Consumers may seek out brands that prioritize environmental and social responsibility.
Tech-Integrated Clothing: The integration of technology into clothing is expected to advance. Smart fabrics, wearable tech, and interactive garments may become more prevalent, enhancing both style and functionality.
Retro Futurism: A fusion of retro aesthetics with futuristic elements could dominate fashion in 2024. Think about a blend of vintage styles from different eras with modern, avant-garde twists.
Gender-Neutral and Inclusive Fashion: The fashion industry has been moving towards greater inclusivity, and this trend may continue to evolve in 2024. Gender-neutral and size-inclusive designs could become more mainstream.
Artisanal and Handcrafted Pieces: A return to craftsmanship and artisanal techniques may emerge as a response to mass production. Consumers may gravitate towards unique, handmade items that tell a story and have a personal touch.
Bold Colors and Maximalism: Following a period of minimalism, a resurgence of bold colors, patterns, and maximalist designs might take center stage. The 'more is more' philosophy could dominate fashion choices.
Activewear Beyond the Gym: Activewear is likely to extend beyond the gym and into everyday wear. Comfortable yet stylish athletic-inspired clothing may continue to gain popularity, blurring the lines between sportswear and casual wear.
Fashion as Art: Clothing as a form of artistic expression could become more prevalent. Designers might collaborate with artists to create wearable art pieces, blurring the lines between fashion and fine art.
Customization and Personalization: Brands may offer more opportunities for customers to customize and personalize their clothing, allowing individuals to express their unique style preferences.
Remember, these are speculative trends, and the actual fashion landscape in 2024 may unfold differently. Always stay updated with the latest fashion news and trends to get a more accurate picture as the year progresses.
